The Iyengar method is methodical and progressive, focussing on detailed correctness and safety while practicing to gain the maximum benefit. Emphasis is placed on alignment and the actions within a pose. Students can expect to be given verbal and occasionally physical corrections to increase awareness as well as props which can either support, intensify or give direction to the understanding of poses and pranayama. The props (such as belts, blocks and blankets) & possible adaptations of poses make Iyengar Yoga accessible to all. It doesn't matter at all how flexible (or not) you are, the practice is safe and accessible to anyone regardless of age, experience and physical ability. Poses are sequenced carefully to bring physical and mental balance and no two Iyengar Yoga classes are the same.
